The best gifts come from the heart, or so they say. But I think the best gifts come from the kitchen.
Imagine giving the gift of this gorgeous red hued Strawberry Vodka. It’s pretty, delicious and this Strawberry Vodka is sure to make even Scrooge merry. And thanks to the beautiful strawberries it smells absolutely amazing!!
Making this Strawberry Vodka couldn’t be simpler. It only involves a couple of ingredients, and the teensiest bit of effort for delicious results.

The quality of vodka you use here is important. As when cooking with wine, only use a vodka you enjoy drinking. For the best results use a vodka with a proof of 80 or above, as the aromatics of the fruit are drawn out due to the alcohol, so the higher the proof the more flavoured and aromatic the resulting vodka will be. However with a higher proof the the taste of the vodka can be more harsh, so find a happy medium. I like a smooth vodka, so I went with Grey Goose, which has a proof of 80, but you can use whatever you like.
You can also add your own personal touches to the vodka by adding your own flavourings. Why not try adding a vanilla bean for strawberry vanilla vodka. You could also try using different fruits such as cherries, blueberries and raspberries. You could also try using peaches, plums or slices of orange, lemon or lime. Or, for something a little more festive, why not check out the Plum Pudding Vodka I made last year.
Serve the Strawberry Vodka chilled over ice, or in your favourite cocktail.

12 Treats of Christmas
Don’t forget to check out the other delicious treats in my 12 Treats of Christmas series.
- 750mls of Vodka (go for a Vodka that is 80 proof)
- 400g (14 oz) of strawberries
- 2 heaped tbs of caster (superfine) sugar
- Wash and thoroughly dry the strawberries. Remove the tops of the strawberries and slice.
- Combine the vodka and caster sugar in a large jar and shake to combine. Add the strawberries and leave in a cool place for 3 to 4 days, giving the mixture a swirl everyday to help the strawberries infuse all of their delicious flavours.
- Strain the mixture through muslin into and decant into bottles and seal.
- Store in the refrigerator for up to 6 months.

Strawberry what? Vodka?! Oh, that would be good in a pie and with the pie... :)
Strawberry Vanilla sounds just divine - plus a view and a summer breeze!
That must taste divine! What a great treat.
Cheers,
Rosa
Your vodka is gorgeous, what a wonderful gift idea!
That would make a delicious gift. Yum!
A wonderful treat - I'm so loving this series of yours. It's giving me such great holiday inspiration! (And it is so nice to get a glimpse of a slightly sunnier Christmas through your posts!)
Many, many years ago, when I was young, I made a flavoured vodka after reading an article in a cool magazine. Would you believe I used Mars bars?! Your strawberry vodka is much more sophisticated! Just the thing for a summer Christmas.
Oh girl, this is so up my alley it's not even funny. We always have good quality vodka around, and are picking strawberry's from Jase's parents' farm... so I think we have a winning combination!!!
This would make a great gift - it's so pretty and Christmasy.
Yum! I can imagine doing this with the cherries that we're seeing coming through right now too! :D
OMG. How wonderful.....so many strawberries. This looks like my perfect treat at number 12. I could stop here...but I wont
This sounds delicious. When you say to seal the bottles, are you referring to canning technique?
Hi Shelia, the bottles just need to be well sealed, perhaps with an airtight stopper.
what is the recommended storage & shelf life for this tasty delight?
Hi Kate, if you place the vodka into sterilised bottles and refrigerate it should last around 6 months.
Um, I'll have two to go, please Jennifer!
What do you do wth the strawberrys after you drain the vodka?
Thanks
Hi Jan, the strawberries will have no flavour after this process (you will notice they will be very pale, almost white) so discard them.
I love the color! Strawberry vodka - I bet it's so flavorful!
OMG this looks amazing! What a great idea. This vodka with some lemonade would be incredible!
Looking forward to trying this.
Can you use regular sugar instead if you don't have superfine sugar.
Regular sugar should be fine Heide, you might just need to shake it a bit longer to dissolve though. Let me know how it turns out :)
