Flying into Las Vegas is an amazing site as you suddenly see a city emerge from the desert sand. Las Vegas. We’ve all seen it in movies and on TV shows – the bright lights, the pool parties, the shows and the cocktail drinks as big as your head. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when we arrived in Las Vegas.



When we stepped off the plane we couldn’t help but laugh at the site of the poker machines in the airport terminal. Of course we’d seen them in the Ocean’s Thirteen movie where Brad Pitt’s character famously rigs the machine so that the hotel reviewer wins the jackpot, but stupidly perhaps, we didn’t actually expect to see poker machines at the airport. Upon seeing this I began to wonder if all I had heard about Las Vegas was in fact true, I’d heard it was tacky and sleazy, but, thankfully I didn’t find that to be the case at all. In fact, it was vastly different to what I imagined.

Sitting on the deck outside, you would be forgiven for thinking that you were completely isolated from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the world, as you listen to the beautiful sounds of the forest (and the odd moo of a cow on the farm nearby) only occasionally being pierced by the sound of a car in the distance.
