Review of Daniel Boulud's restaurant Daniel

On our recent holiday in the United States one of the things I specifically wanted to do was visit Daniel Boulud’s restaurant Daniel in New York. So it was with much excitement, on our second day in New York, we visited Daniel. I have to say it was the most amazing meal of my life.

Daniel Boulud is recognised as one of the United States best Chef’s, and the seemingly endless list of awards are testament to that – Outstanding Restauranteur in 2006 and Outstanding Restaurant in 2010 by the James Beard Foundation, Culinary Institute of America 2011 Chef of the Year and in 2006 The President of France made him a Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur in recognition for his contribution to the advancement of French food and culture. Daniel Boulud’s flagship restaurant Daniel has also received just as many awards including 3 Michelin stars in 2010, which is the guides highest rating.

Bella Venezia, Mooloolaba

Bella Venezia restaurant review Mooloolaba

Bella Venezia was the second restaurant I chose to review as part of Mushroom Mania month. It’s located in the beautiful seaside town of Mooloolaba, one and a half hours drive north of Brisbane. It’s a hard life when you have to drive to the beach for a restaurant review, but such is life!

Bella Venezia is quite a find, and is hidden amongst the array of cafes that dominate Mooloolaba Esplanade. It’s the type of place you could quite easily walk past if you are captivated by the sea views, as I am sure many are, but it’s worth looking for, and not that hard to spot with it’s beautiful red, black and white decor and the crowds of people munching on what is probably the best Italian food on the Sunshine Coast.

Giardinetto review

I’ve long been a lover of mushrooms, so it was with much excitement that I said yes when asked by Australian Mushroom Growers to join a group of food bloggers around Australia taking part in Mushroom Mania month throughout July. For those of you unfamiliar,Mushroom Mania is a celebration of mushrooms and mushroom dishes taking part during July in over 1,600 restaurants Australia wide.

The first restaurant I selected to review was Giardinetto, a cosy little Italian restaurant, located in Brunswick Street in Fortitude Valley, which has been operating since 1966.
