I have a compulsion when it comes to cookbooks. Like a Bowerbird who is drawn to bring shiny things into their nest, I have the same need to add to my ever growing cookbook collection. I love browsing the recipes inside for inspiration, I love looking at the beautifully styled photos, and I love reading about what inspired the author. One of my recent purchases was Wild Sugar by Skye Craig.

Tea. It’s what I start my day with and end my day with. Nothing beats a cup of tea for both it’s relaxing qualities and it’s ability to sooth your soul. For some tea is so loved and honoured it becomes a ritual in and of itself, and it’s easy to see why because there is something almost magical about enjoying a cup of tea with someone, be they a friend or someone you’ve only just met.

Chocolate Peppermint Sandwich Cookies

On a whim the other day I bought a Peppermint Pattie. Do you remember them? It’s extremely rare that I buy candy bars now days, but I remembered them from my childhood and couldn’t help but buy one and see if they tasted as I remembered. When I was a little girl, while many children my age would have chosen Mars Bars or Snickers or something equally decadent when given a choice of what candy bar they would like I chose the humble Peppermint Pattie. In fact, I think that’s where my love of peppermint and chocolate first started. Peppermint Patties and those after dinner mint chocolates that used to come in boxes individually wrapped.
