Donna Hay's Chocolate Plum Clafoutis recipe

Lets get the week off to a sweet start with Chocolate Plum Clafoutis.

What could be better than sweet, delicious plums encased in a baked chocolate custard with a gooey melted chocolate surprise base?  Chocolate could be the perfect cure for Mondayitis I think.

This recipe comes from Donna Hay’s beautiful Seasons cookbook.  Which is quickly becoming my go to cookbook when I’m looking for inspiration.  It showcases the best of Donna Hay magazine, and is probably the most visually stunning cookbook I own.  I think due to the beautiful location shoots which really evoke each season featured in the book.  I love nothing better than sitting down and flipping through Seasons, sipping a cup of tea and letting the inspiration wash over me.

I love that her recipes are uncomplicated and enable a family to make a delicious meal quickly, because time is a luxury that not everyone has these days.

For my overseas visitors, who may not have heard of Donna Hay, she could be considered the Australian Martha Stewart, minus the craft and gardening.  Donna started her career as a food editor for Marie Claire magazine, where she quickly became known for her simple style driven approach to recipes.

Following her time at Marie Claire, in 2001, she launched her own bi-monthly magazine,  Donna Hay.  Her magazine and continual stream of delicious cookbooks have lead to international recognition, including in 2007 where she was named one of the ‘Magnificent Seven’ cookbook authors by the judges of the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards.  Donna’s empire has since expanded to include homewares and this year she launched her first TV show which features recipes from her latest cookbook – Fast, Fresh & Simple.

Are you a fan of Donna Hay?  What is your favourite Donna Hay cookbook?

We don't get Donna Hay anything here in Dubai unfortunately. But I've heard so much about her sense of style. The clafoutis looks delicious as usual. I wish you'd taken a shot of the inside so we could see the clafoutis in all its glory!

Out of all the ones I own, I would say I use Instant Entertaining the most. I am eating bucket loads of plums atm, and this would make a nice change from eating them raw

I don't actually have Instant Entertaining. I will have to look into that one! Thanks Chanel :D

What a lovely way to start the week! I have never had calfoutis before too! This just looks too gorgeous. I like Donna Hay's recipes because they are so easy to follow, and so simple:) I never knew Donna Hay used to work with Marie Claire! I have purchased a few issues of her magazine, but have yet to own her cookbook. Do you have any recommendation?

My favourite Donna Hay cookbook, by far, is Seasons. It's just gorgeous! I also quite like her new one Fast, Fresh & Simple and Off the Shelf is good too. You can get them all from book depository for a good price!

Hi Robert, you could eat this cold, but I feel it’s best eaten warm. You can however reheat it and enjoy it the next day. :D
