T and I dined out at a local restaurant recently and the dish I ordered was a pumpkin and fontina tart with candied walnuts. The candied walnuts were delicious and I thought that they were something that would be easy to make that are also delicious to nibble on. I was right on both counts.
These candied walnuts are so simple to make and are incredibly moreish, as I found out later that evening nibbling on them whilst enjoying a glass of Pipers Brook Pinot Noir. In the end I had to put the nuts away, they were just too dangerous. I did, however, vow to make them again as they are the perfect thing to serve with cheese, take to someone’s house as a gift if you’ve been invited for dinner, or keep in the cupboard for when you have friends over for a drink.
Candied Walnuts
Ingredients:
1 cup of walnuts (or whatever nuts you prefer)
2 tablespoons of honey
1 tablespoon of sugar
a pinch of salt
Method:
1. Preheat the oven to 170 degrees Celsius or 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Add the nuts to a bowl and pour in the honey, sugar and salt and mix well.
3. Pour the mixture onto a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake for between 10 to 15 minutes or until the nuts are golden and the mixture is bubbling.
4. Remove from the oven and allow to cool before breaking apart. Store in an airtight container.

Yum, what a simple idea. I know someone who would love these especially with Tassie walnut which are so fresh.

Mmm candied nuts are so moreish aren't they! And walnuts are so good for you too so these would be healthy no?
Nuts maybe healthy, but candied not so much I think :p
Might not be very healthy but its just umm a tbsp of sugar….I can imagine how hard it would be to stop nibbling on those:)
